The 6th Q! Film Festival opens August 24th 2007 till September 2nd (Jakarta) and September 6th-8th (Bali)
Entering the 6th edition, Q! Film Festival comes up with the theme "Youth Revisited", showcasing 80 international films from 22 countries with documentary, short and feature-length films. The festival will open on August 24th at Blitz Megaplex, a new lavish cinema chain with a Taiwanese film "Eternal Summer" from Leste Chan.
Asian films takes centre stage this time by featuring films from the Phillipines (Tuli by Auraeus Solito), South Korea (No Regret by Leesong Hee-Il), Thailand (Adventure of Iron Pussy by Michael Shaowanasai and some short films from Thunska Pansittivorakul), Singapore (short films from Victric Thng and Boo Junfeng), Hongkong (Happy Together by Wong Kar Wai and its making of "Buenos Aires Zero Degrees" by Kwan Pun Leung and Amos Lee) and Malaysia (Goodbye Boys by Bernard Chauly).
From Indonesia itself, "Kala" by Joko Anwar, "Coklat Stroberi" by Ardy Oktaviand, "The Last Bissu" by Rhoda Grauer, the world premiere of "Paris Dreams Continued" by Dhani Agustinus and "Jakarta Undercover" by Lance as the Closing Film.
Some international guests who are confirmed to attend the festival are: Imaizumi Koichi and Iwasa Hiroki from the Japanese film "First Love". Not only that they present the film but also the photo exhibition of behind the scene of the film will be presented by photographer: Mr. Taguchi Hiroki. Victric Thng from Singapore will be in the 'Focus on Director" section, showing all his melancholic short films. Philippe Tasca, a French film distributor will be presenting some French films.
The off-screen events are as exciting as the films themselves. Q! Gossips, an informal gathering, will be the place to chat around with other fellow spectators and some local celebrities about issues such as coming-out, metrosexuality, "Roman Sarkastik" novel by Erza Setyadharma and a chicklit novel called "Cha Untuk Chayang" by Dalih Sembiring. From the literature world, there will be a launch of short stories compilation by HIV/AIDS carers in a book called "Aku Kartini Bernyawa Sembilan".
Q! Film Festival is still free of charge and permit audience only from the age of 17 years old and above. It will take place for 10 days in Jakarta in venues as such: Blitz Megaplex, Goethe-Institut, Subtitles, Centre Culturel Francais, Cemara 6 Galeri, Kineforum (Tim 21 Studio 1), Japan Foundation, Erasmus Huis and Usmar Ismail Hall. Then it will tour to Seminyak in Bali on September 6-8 at Q! Bar and Kudos Bar and a possibility of an outdoor screening by the beach.
